July 31th it will be exactly 100 years ago that the heaviest war storm ever awoke above Flanders Fields: the beginning of the 3th Battle of Ypres or simply known as the Battle of Passchendaele. For this 100th anniversary we have worked out a very special cycling arrangement for maximum 12 persons who can join us. It will be offered on 30th July. Contact us now if you want to join us then?
We accept a group of max. 12 guests to follow the trails of the Battle of Passchendaele. This a tailormade program specifically developed to accept group-participation. It allows private persons to enjoy a guided tour in and around the famous battlefields around Ypres and Passchendaele for a very moderate price.
Departure time: strictly at 9.30 hrs at our meeting point where also the rental bicycles are waiting for you –> souvenir- & newspapershop ‘t Iepertje – Menenstraat 12 which is just between the central square (“Grote Markt”) and Menin Gate Memorial (“Menenpoort”).
Chronological passages of the hot spots that are connected to the true story of the Passchendaele Battle. Tyne Cot Cemetery is of course obligational stop. We have lunch close to the re-opened battlefield-grounds in the park of the Passchendale Memorial Museum. Of course it will be possible to combine the cycling tour with a visit to the Museum. Or from 31 July on: visiting the reopened DUG-OUTS nearby the church of Zonnebeke!
Distance of the Passchendaele Special-Tour 40-45 km. Back under the Menin Gate Memorial around 17.00 hrs. You might be interested in staying with the group for another drink or lunch till we go all together assembling under the Menin Gate Memorial for sharing the LAST POST-ceremony at 20.00 hrs. Appropriate finish of a moving day.
What does it cost? Group-tour = 240 EUR, price/person depending on number of cycling tourists, with a minimum of €30 each.
We only go on tour with a minimum of 4 persons (60 EUR/each). Bicycles available: 15 EUR (classic tour bike) or 25 EUR (E-bike).
